Subject: Defining Greatness…

Baba

“Loke bale tumi dekha’ da’o na’, tave ele kii kare…” (PS 1893)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purusa, people are telling that You are not visible. When people say like that then how is it that You have come here in front of me and I am seeing You.

O’ Parama Purusa, people are telling that You do not care about logic and reasoning. That there is no explaining how You manage Your affairs and that Your liila is beyond logic. Then how is it that You have graced one and all & You are showering everyone with Your divine nectar. How has this started happening.

Baba, whenever I see You then I always request You to make me Yours. And when I say like this, then I see with my own eyes and I hear with my own ears how You come close and shower me incessantly with Your infinite grace.

Baba, I am so meagre; You are so vast. I am bound up by my own limitations. Even then You love me. Baba, by Your sweet touch all the negativity and impurities get removed; and everything becomes pure. By Your grace, the fragrant flowers blossom in each and every nook and corner of my mind.

Baba, people are telling that You are invisible and that You cannot be seen; but by Your grace You have come to me. O’ my dearmost Baba, this is all due to Your cosmic grace and infinite compassion…

== DEFINING GREATNESS IN HUMAN LIFE ==

Namaskar,
In each and every sphere of life Baba has set the gold-bar standard. In all the realms He has beautifully defined what is the top-rung of achievement, as well as how one gets there. Included in this is Baba’s special explanation about greatness: What makes someone great.

No doubt in the mundane society– whether it be in the field of politics, business, sports, or education etc– people have their own small-minded views about who & what is great. But in Baba’s own revolutionary approach, He has given His unique and dharmic teaching on greatness. And, needless to say, His grand definition of ‘greatness’ stands on a plane all its own– far, far above.

THE SUTRA & SPIRIT BEHIND IT ALL

Here following is Baba’s special guideline about vastness & greatness, the link between the two, as well as what it means to be great.

Baba says, “This Supreme One is called brhat. The word brhat literally means ‘One who is very vast, who is beyond the scope of all limitations, who is immeasurable and unfathomable’…Brahma literally means the Entity who is Himself very vast, and whose ideation makes others vast like Him.”

Brhattva’d Brahma Brm’hanatva’d Brahma

“Brm’hanatva’d means making others vast. He himself is very great, and hence He is called Brahma; but this is not enough. Besides that He has the capacity to make others equally great like Him.” (SS-11)

As Baba explains in His above teaching, one of the qualities of Parama Purusa is that He Himself is vast (brhat). And not only that but He has the capacity to make others vast. So, according to Baba’s revolutionary view, being vast does not mean just being some big or large entity; in addition, one must possess that special ability to make others equally vast. That is the unique requisite which Baba outlines in the above shloka.

And– per Baba’s guideline– same is the case with greatness…

As He directs us, vastness or greatness does not come all by itself; nor does it exist in a vacuum. To become ‘great’, one must have that special talent of being able to make others great. This is the exceptional quality of those who are really great. Thus only those who have this unique ability to raise the standard of others to the level of greatness can truly be called great. This is Baba’s teaching.

HUMANS CAN ALSO DO

So while Brahma is unquestionably the Greatest of the great, in their own way humans can also achieve a certain level of greatness. Because those who follow a God-centered philosophy are drenched in spiritual thought and service-mindedness. And when others come in their contact then those common people naturally feel inspired and get uplifted. Because by seeing the ways and conduct of a true sadhaka, then others will also grow. And not only that, those selfless sadhakas are ever-ready to help others advance. In that way God-centered aspirants can bring lay people up to their high level. And, according to Baba, those who do like this are indeed great.

NOT LIKE A BANYAN TREE

Thus becoming vast or great does not mean becoming big like one huge banyan tree. Because although a banyan tree is enormous, it gets that way by sucking up all the air, sunlight, water, and nutrients for itself. That banyan tree does not allow even single a blade of grass to grow underneath it. So this type of crude expression of bigness is not something admirable– not something great.

HOW IT GOES IN THE GENERAL SOCIETY

Unfortunately in today’s materialistic society, there are so-called great people all around. They are adorned on the cover of various magazines, propped up on stages, applauded at sporting events, and praised by the size of their wallet. Means in this present era there are so many who are called as great– for one reason or another; yet none reach up to Baba’s standard of the term, not even close.

As we see all around, whether in the field of business, entertainment, or law etc, in cent-per-cent of the cases those materially-minded people only become “great” by sucking the blood of others. Only by stepping on the heads of others and by clawing and scratching for each and every inch did they get “to the top”. And such ‘greats’ retain this regal status of theirs by throwing dirt in the eyes of others. And they certainly do not help to elevate the standard of others. Rather the opposite.

So these so-called greats in the crude society have nothing to do with helping others to grow or expand. Rather they achieved their measly status by hoarding money, grabbing a high post, & garnering a lot of prestige, etc. So their greatness is only standing on fleeting worldly credentials. And they enhance their “greatness” by attempting to collect more of those worldly prizes than anyone else. So their approach is totally selfish– where the key point is making oneself look better than others.

CONTRARY TO BABA’S DHARMIC DEFINITION

That is why what is usually called ‘great’ in this materialistic, vaeshyan era is completely opposite to Baba’s spiritual, neo-humanistic approach. In capitalism ‘greatness’ is achieved by pushing oneself above others, and in our dharmic spiritual approach greatness means raising others up to a standard of excellence.

Hence in the true sense, those selfish persons who pose as being “great” are not really great– not at all. Because their ‘greatness’ comes from sucking the blood of others. They are unable to make others great, just they prop themselves up by stepping on the heads of others and reaping the fruits of their existence. So simple and innocent citizens get exploited and suppressed when they come in contact with such so-called great persons. That is why we can never call any selfish, materialistic person as ‘great’. Because they are unable to lift others up to a higher standard– rather they push those people down into the depths of degradation.

SAME THING HAPPENING IN AMPS NOWADAYS

Unfortunately nowadays a similar trend exists in our AMPS. Because if we look around then we can see that those so-called great Dadas suppress lower-posted workers and / or margiis. Means top-dog Dadas reach the height of their glory by pushing down on the shoulders of general members. They force margiis to remain in a subservient position and do not allow margiis to grow. This is evidenced by the curtailment and eradication of bhukti pradhan rights, the strangulation of margii rights, the manipulation of the ACB etc. In all spheres those great Dadas – no need to mention names – just impose restrictions on the margiis to satisfy their selfish greed for power and post. And within their own ranks they just create ‘yes-men’ all around them. Any Dada with a brain got pushed aside and anyone who they keep as their close must become a ‘yes-man’– a no-brainer. This is the unfortunate formula these days.

So to attain their greatness, such top Dadas suck the blood of junior wts and general margiis and exploit them up to the bone. That is the be-all and end-all of their greatness. Meanwhile in this dark era, those who are really great are temporarily hidden somewhere– remaining unknown.

So in the materialistic era of the general society and in this groupist era in our AMPS, those who are deemed as “great” function in a way that is totally opposite to Baba’s divine equation of greatness. Thus all around so-called great people are nothing but exploiter-types, with not an ounce of benevolent motive in their blood.

Whereas Baba’ divine recipe for greatness means working for the welfare of others and making them great. That is how to see who is really great.

BABA’S BLESSING

By Baba’s divine grace, soon the humanity will be led by truly great personalities. By Baba’s grace that day is fast approaching. Then greatness really will mean making others great.

Baba says, “We are proceeding from darkness towards effulgence, from imperfection along the golden steps to perfection. No obstacle on the way will be able to stop our advancement. Pushing aside and smashing all obstacles and impediments we will move along our destined path…The chant of our forward movement will be our vocal expression, the very pulsation of our life.” (A’nanda Va’nii, #72)

Namaskar,
Jagatmitra

Note 1: WHO IS CONTROLLING WHOM

Nowadays those with post are looked upon as great persons. Presidents and Prime Ministers get huge respect and royal treatment wherever they go. Side by side in this extreme vaeshyan era, those with any sense understand well that from behind, these presidents are controlled by top-moneyed persons.

Some may think that Presidents are merely moderately influenced by those corporation heads; but in reality those deep pocketed vaeshyas are selecting and deciding who will be president. This is the well known fact nowadays. But for the shudra-dominated public they are not aware about all this so they just give full respect to the President and they think the President is controlling everything. When the reality is that politics is controlled by money. This is how the general society is moving. But amongst the common people, post is everything and the capitalists recognise this that is why they are purchasing & controlling those postholders. If postholders were meaningless positions then those with money would not bother about that.

In AMPS, post is given a similar amount of respect. So groupist Dadas work behind the scenes and totally manipulate and control those sitting in the chairs of the PP post and GS post. This is the on-going reality since ’90.

Note 2: MORE ABOUT BABA’S TEACHING OF GREATNESS

Becoming vast or great is not measured by accumulating huge money or high prestige or some other material thing etc, the vastness which Baba is referring to in His famous shloka is about helping others to improve and become great. And on that basis alone is what makes someone really great.

Note 3: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VAESHYAN ERA & GOD-CENTERED APPROACH

In crude vaeshyan era people think that those with money are great and in other eras they have their own mundane parameters– such as physical might or intellectual cunning etc. But in our God-centered approach the ones who are great are those who make others great.

About the Wealthy

Baba says, “It must always be remembered that the value of money lies in its proper use. If more money is accumulated than what is necessary, it becomes valueless for want of use. To the extent that you keep idle and valueless money with you, to that extent you become responsible for the injustices done to the hungry and the naked. Your valueless hoard will have to be made valuable by providing opportunities for use by others. Those who do not know the right use of money on the basis of the exchange of mundane resources are in fact the enemies of society.” (HS-1, p.41)

Baba

“Tumi bhuliya’ giya’cho a’ma’re…” (Prabhat Samgiita 4102)

Purport:

Baba, You always hold me in Your heart. That is why it is so painful
that now You have forgotten me. All my efforts are going in vain:
Singing Prabhat Samgiita according to the tune and melody, crying in
yearning for You and looking towards the path of Your arrival, and also
trying to hold You in my ideation, meditation, and dhyana. All these
efforts are getting wasted. Because You have forgotten me. That is why
You are not paying any heed to my efforts.

O’ Prabhu, by Your grace I never forget You. Because Your
introduction is my introduction, then how I can forget You. By Your
wee-bit of grace all the time– every moment–  I am always floating. My
whole existence is depending upon Your karuna, divine compassion.

Baba, age after age– what type of liila is this that are You are
playing with this meagre entity like myself. In Your divine liila my
role is to always get neglected by You. This has been going on since
ages; You never cared about me. Baba, You do not love me.     Baba, all
the time, in the dawn, morning, midday, evening, You go on playing hide
and seek with me. Why this type of divine play. Baba please come in my
heart…

== TASMAD DHARMA SADAKARYAH ==

Namaskar,
In this critical period when the leadership is so helter-skelter, here
is something that will surely keep us sadhakas on track– simultaneously
creating a proper collective flow.

ONE OF BABA’S SIGNIFICANT GUIDELINES

Baba says: “If human beings do not keep company with righteous people,
or do not study holy books, if their minds are not saturated with love
for the Supreme Entity, then this group of enemy microvita infests their
minds. Ultimately, the structure of those minds is crudified, and
through dogma, reaches the nadir point of crudification.” (MVNS, p. 15-16)

We should follow this above quote of Baba. It is the duty of each and
every disciple of Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji to observe HIS guideline.

MUST ALWAYS FOLLOW DHARMA

In my life, I have experienced that in the beginning I often find it
difficult to follow many of the rules of dharma (16 Pts etc). But good
margiis friends and my acarya have told me again and again that on the
point of dharma we should not try to find some excuse why not to follow,
but rather the mentality should be to follow and adhere to all the rules
even more strictly. This should be our approach. That is the guidance I
have continually received by Baba’s grace.

So since then I have tried to follow all the aspects of 16 Points.
Because they were also telling that in one of His discourses, Baba
guides us that even in our jokes and humour we should not move a single
step away from the path of dharma.

BABA’S UNIQUE TEACHING ON GREATNESS IN LIFE

Similarly, in one of the discourses which Baba has given during the
Bhukti Pradhan reporting in Tiljala, Calcutta, then Baba told that many
persons think, ‘I will do something great when dharma and adharma fight
will start, like Mahabharata’. But in their regular day to day life
these same persons do not care. They think, ‘When Mahabharat types of
battles happen, then I will support dharma. Otherwise when involved in
simple things in day to day life, then I need not to take trouble’.

The point being that if one does not follow dharma all the time then one
can never follow dharma. That is Baba’s warning.

Furthermore Baba guides us that in the lives of most human beings, such
great battles of dharma never happen. Means most people never get the
opportunity to participate in such types of battles. Rather in their
life only 2 major things happen. One is the moment of their birth and
other is the time of their death. Beyond that not much else happens. And
at those two important times it is hard to perform great deeds. Because
at the time of one’s birth, one is just a baby & thus incapable of doing
anything. Likewise, at the at the time of death one is old and feeble,
in which case it is very difficult to manage.

So the essence of Baba’s teaching is that we human beings should follow
the principle of dharma all the time. At every opportunity, small or big.

DHARMA IS THE FLOW OF LIFE

Baba says, one must have to follow dharma all the 24hrs.

Sutra 2-7: ‘Tasmaddharmah Sadakaryah.’
Meaning: “Dharma should always be practiced.”
IN THIS PRESENT ERA THE MENTAL MIRROR OF DHARMA IS NEEDED

Now, at this present moment, is the delicate time when a couple simple
margiis are getting confused about what to do and what not to do. In
that case they are getting misguided by one or another group or subgroup
etc, and in that way they end up getting misled. So this is a very
delicate time.

Thus we should strive hard to follow Baba’s above teaching: In every
moment in our day to day life we have to follow dharma. Then only will
the mind will be serene and pure. In which case internally one’s own
inner vivek (conscience) will develop more and more such that one will
be able to see with pristine clarity what is to be done.

Otherwise people get confused again and again and get permanently caught
up in the negative track. Because always one or another sub-group
faction will try to convince you that their way is best.

So to avoid that poor outcome, it is needed in one’s practical,
day-to-day life to adhere to dharma in all regards, on all the points–
including all the simple things. In each and every sphere dharma should
be upheld.

Only then will the proper guideline always get reflected in the mind, in
which case one will not go astray. Otherwise this time is very delicate;
this is the crucial time when a lot of problems are coming on this
globe. Various types of natural calamities, severe types of economic
problems, political problems– all these things are coming.

SIXTEEN POINTS IS THE ANSWER

So whom to support, what to do, what not to do, all these decisions &
answers do not come until one does not follow dharma strictly– in their
everyday practical life. And that means following 16 Points. And when
one does that, then the direct guidelines of dharma will come from
within. And the right answer will always be found. This is Baba’s
expressed guideline.

By Baba’s grace those who are following dharma, they never get misled or
defeated. That is the key point. Thus in one’s practical life one should
follow dharma. And then the grace of Parma Purusa, the grace of Baba
will be there. And one will always be victorious in each and every step
of life. All this Baba has told in numerous discourses.

BABA’S BLESSING

Baba says, “Marching ahead is Jiivan Dharma (the characteristic wont of
life). And to march ahead, carrying all, viewing the world humanity as
an integral entity, is the principal aspect of Jiivan Dharma. Resolve
courageously to observe this Jiivan Dharma. Remember:

‘Yato Dharmah tato istah, yato istah tato jayah.’

“Where there is Dharma, there is Ista (Baba) and where there is Ista, there is Victory.” (AV #43)

Namaskar,
Phanindra

NOTE: MORE OF BABA’S ETERNAL TEACHINGS ON DHARMA

Here following are a few more of Baba’s divine guidelines about dharma:

(A) Baba says, “Only dharma accompanies you even after death. None but
dharma is suhrd (Eternal Friend).”

‘Eka eva suhrd dharma nidhane api anuyati yah’
“Dharma alone is suhrd and remains with one till the end.” (AV-5)

(B) Baba says, “Dharma raks’ati raks’itah– one who protects dharma is
protected by dharma. Dharma saves the dha’rmika, the upholder of dharma,
in the material sphere, in the subtle sphere and in the casual sphere.
When dharma saves people in the material sphere, they experience it
before their very eyes, they hear it with their ears, they feel it with
the tenderness of touch. When dharma helps them in the causal sphere,
they experience it by loving Parama Purusa with all the sweetness of
their hearts. This feeling has no external expression. When dharma saves
people in the subtle sphere, they experience it through deep
reflection.” (Shivokti 11)

(C) Here Baba reveals how dharma works secretly.

Baba says, “With the increasing development of the power of reflection,
dharmik people realize that dharma is always with them in a very subtle
way. They further realize that their dharma and their beloved Parama
Purusa are one and inseparable.”

‘Dharmasya su’ks’ ma’ gatih’
Meaning: “The ways of dharma are very subtle.” (NSS, ’95 Edn, p.156)

(D) Here Baba guides us that dharma is the essence of life.

‘Dhriyate dharma itya’huh sa eva paramam’ prabhu’
Meaning: “Dharma is that which sustains.”

Baba says, “The seed of humanity cannot sprout and flourish unless it is
planted in the soil of dharma. To diverge from the path of dharma means
to rush headlong towards total annihilation. In all one’s actions one
should keep Parama Purus’a as the goal, and be well established in
dharma.” (APH-8)

******************************************
MAMMALS AND LOVE

Baba says, “There are fishes who carry something like a sack inside
their bodies and they carry their children in those sacks. There are
some snakes who also take their children with them. Not only have they
inborn instinct, but they have something more, that is, they have love
and affection for their children. This is also true of some species of
snakes, but love and affection for their children is more prominent in
mammals. Mammals are more developed than non-mammals because in the case
of mammals mothers feed the children with their breast-milk and
certainly they have got affection for their children — that is why they
do so.” (YP ’98, Edn, p.83)

Note: Mothers of financially poorer countries keep their babies along
with them and breast-feed their infants. But the case is different with
so-called advanced mothers from around the globe– especially in the
so-called developed nations. In those so-called developed places,
neither do those mothers want to breast-feed their infants nor do they
want to keep their infants along with them.

So in comparison to those animals we have to see how far the whole
situation is working. Because those mammals and animals do love and care
for their offspring; accordingly, then humans are more advanced so they
should express more love. And mothers of poor countries do like that.
But the strange thing is that mothers from the so-called advanced
countries…

With the scale of Baba’s above teaching, we have to judge whether such
mothers are really developed or moving in the opposite direction.

Subject: “Doing to Feel Good About Ourselves”

Baba

PS Intro: This following song is not a very common type of Prabhat Samgiita.
In this song, the scene unfolds how Baba is sitting listlessly in the flower
garden all by Himself, and the devotee is trying in many ways to attract His
attention. So Parama Purusa is just playing His liila because although He
knows everything, here He is pretending as if He is unaware that the devotee
is close by. This type of liila is displayed in this following song.

“Toma’re dekhechi jabe ca’npa’r vane
takhano pa’pa’r’i d’ha’ka’ madhu chilo…” (PS 531)

Purport:

Baba the day when I saw You in the campa flower garden, that time also the
flower’s honey vessels were covered by its petals. Underneath the flower petals,
there was an accumulation of honey nectar. I looked toward You with my eyes
full of great longing, expectation, and anticipation; but that was all in
vain because You did not respond to me that time. Baba, one thing is beyond
my understanding, why were You just sitting there listlessly in that flower
garden–and You did not seem to notice me at all.

Baba, in various ways I tried to attract Your attention. I intentionally
placed my foot on some dry, crunchy leaves hoping that at least by that sound
You would hear me and wonder ‘who has come, who is here’. Yet, alas, You did
not pay any heed. But even though You were not looking towards me, still You
were pulling my heart very strongly. Thus in spite of Your playful indifference,
in my heart the lamp of hope was still glittering. I was keeping the feeling
alive in my heart, that Your liila will change and You will graciously look
towards me.

So again I tried to attract Your attention. This time my heart was filled
with fear and shyness; I could not gather the courage to go directly in front
You. So I just continued moving from a distance with gentle steps looking
towards with longing in my heart. Means slowly, slowly– time to time– I
was staring at You with anxious and hopeful eyes, hoping that at least You
will grace me by looking towards me and call me closer to You. Alas, all my
hopes and dreams were in vain. That day I understood how Your liila generates
blissful pain in my heart.

Baba, even then that day I continued on with the hope that this liila will
end soon, and You will look towards me. That time the whole atmosphere was
charged with the sweet aroma of all those flowers in the garden.

Baba, Your liila is unfathomable. Although You did not look towards me that
time, but in my heart I felt that You are more close than ever. Baba, I felt
that You graciously pulled my entire existence towards You with the invisible
flow of devotion and tied me in the bond of Your love…

== DOING TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT OURSELVES ==

Namaskar,
Not long back I attended a retreat and at the opening ceremony and also in
our ERAWS Departmental meetings Dadas were telling that ‘We [margiis] should
engage in some work or activity so that we will feel good about ourselves’. They were
telling that this should be our motivating factor. Plus they were saying, ‘If
you do not do something, then how will our seniors be pleased’. So these are
some of the things we margiis are hearing at retreats nowadays. So this is
one of the common problems. Unfortunately those making these types of statements
are oblivious about Baba’s teaching.

Baba says, “It is incorrect to say that merely doing good deeds is enough:
People must hold an object of ideation in their minds. And that supreme
object of ideation is Parama Purus’a. Only then if some good action is
performed will it be successful. Now if one wants to do some good deed excluding
Parama’tma’ that will not be a good deed. This will be sheer selfishness on
your part, and nothing good can come from it.” (26 Feb ’71, Jammu)

HOW THE WORLD IS FUNCTIONING THESE DAYS

Due to the mass propagation of the self-centered philosophy of materialism,
there is a huge increase in selfishness. The common people are going far
astray from Baba’s above golden guideline.

Nowadays general citizens– especially those who regard themselves as so-called
advanced people– rarely do good deeds. And in the those measly few circumstances
when they do seemingly perform “good actions”, it is really done out of
self-satisfaction. That is for the sake of their own entertainment. These days
this has become the fad.

And then afterwards they just brag about their own “greatness”. They announce
to others about how they did top-level social service. And by saying that they
can feel good (puffed up) and get prestige. This is the on-going trend.

Baba says, “Suppose a certain man donates one thousand rupees to a particular
institution. The next day he looks anxiously for his name in the newspaper.
If his name does not appear in the paper, then with an air of conceit he brags
amongst his kith and kin. “I have donated a thousand rupees, but I do not desire
recognition and therefore I have not published my name in the paper.” The desire
for fame exists in a concealed form in that man’s mind. Clearly, he did not make
the donation with the spirit of service.” (SS-1)

THE OUTCOME OF SELFISH ACTIVITIES

But one should understand such so-called good works neither help the individual
nor the collective. Rather it causes or brings about their ultimate degeneration
in all the realms:

1) Those who are “doing the service” look down upon those whom they are serving;
and they end up exploiting them etc.

2) Those who are “doing the service” really want  something return. Such as
name or fame etc. And when if/when they do not get that then they retaliate or r
eact in various ways;

3) Plus they go not recognise the dignity of those human beings whom they are serving.
They do not respect those downtrodden masses. By their arrogant tendency, they
end up imposing an inferiority complex upon those whom they are “serving”.

4) They bind themselves in the ocean of negative samskara and bondage by getting
sucked into the never-ending cycle of action and reaction.

5) For their own self-entertainment they lose their vivek. And when they do entertain
themselves often they harm others. For example on the weekend people do various
outlandish things like hunting, fishing, and killing. By this way we can see that
there are all kinds of negative things they do to entertain themselves. All so
that they can satisfy their selfish desires and feel good. Yet all this is a
waste of time– not to mention destructive.

6) Ultimately such persons degenerate and get totally frustrated.

THE GREATEST THING– IN THE REAL SENSE

To do work with the sole purpose and motive of pleasing Parama Purusa is the
greatest thing; that is the only good work. And by His grace true devotees do
like this. There is no other way.

Baba says, “When you perform acts with the ideation that the person served is
Náráyańa, there is no possibility of arrogance or the desire for fame growing
in your mind. Then you will realize that through the grace of a’ra’yan’a you have
been given the opportunity of serving Na’ra’yan’a. Our hands and feet are not ours,
they are His, and by serving Himself with those hands and feet, He sports with
Himself. Such an action is an action without attachment. Only in this way can one
attain salvation from the bondage of Karma. “(SS-1)

Baba says, “Knowing oneself is the real knowledge; serving all with the ideation
of Na’ra’yan’a, the real action, and the vow to please Parama Purus’a the real
devotion.” (A’nanda Va’nii #25)

Namaskar,
Hariish

Note: LIFE IN AMPS

In our organisation AMPS, the following types of ailments are going on.
Some Wts are openly bragging and telling each other:

(a) “Hey, do something to feel good”; or,
(b) “Hey, do something to please your higher authority”; or
“Hey, do something to please your grouip leader” etc; or,
(c) “Hey, do something to save your post and get a promotion.”

This is what they say. And this is not a hidden idea either. Rather it
happens on a daily basis. In this way they brag and loudly expose their
feeling to one and all. Plus some margiis etc who give a few pennies
for relief projects talk all day long about their own greatness and great
generosity. These are the common ailments.

So by this one can easily understand that such persons are surrounded by
Cimmerian darkness. The fate of such Wts or margiis ends up in sheer frustration.

In contrast, good margiis follow Baba’s teaching: Do with the ideation of
serving Parama Purusa.

***************************************
Margiis’ Status

Baba says, “Most people spend their lives on this planet eating and
drinking. Sometimes they contract diseases, their stomachs become distended,
and they die. But there are certain exceptional people who say, ‘No, we have
not come to eat, drink and make merry.’ Those who lead licentious lives foolishly
get involved in brawls and fights, but the exceptional people say, ‘No, we
don’t want to live such a life, we have to lead an ideological life on the path of
“A’tmamoks’a’rtham’ jagaddhita’ya ca.”

“Those people who are society’s exceptions are extraordinary people. They
alone will build human history. Others cannot and will not do it.”

“These exceptional people are sometimes seen as lunatics by the naive public,
but the fact is that these exceptional people do something new and constructive
for society.”

“You should also know that you are exceptions. You too will do something great,
will build up something historical.” (9th January ’79)

Note: The life of each and every good margii is looked upon as something
peculiar in the eyes of the common people. The reason is A-grade margiis
are not involved in the religious dogma or materialistic ways of common
people; plus all margiis are practicing yoga, kiirtan, sadhana, eating only
sentient food, and following progressive ideas. So margiis’ thinking and living
and socializing are quite different from the common public. That is why the
common public thinks margiis are peculiar people. But sincere margiis are
not worried about this; rather they know that this is one merit. Such
margiis are great exceptions and they are also the vanguards of the entire
society. All sincere margiis are making the path which the common public will
tread in the very near future.

Baba

“Loke bale tumi dekha’ da’o na’, tave ele kii kare…” (PS 1893)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purusa, people are telling that You are not visible. When
people say like that then how is it that You have come here in front of me
and I am seeing You.

O’ Parama Purusa, people are telling that You do not care about logic
and reasoning. That there is no explaining how You manage Your affairs and
that Your liila is beyond logic. Then how is it that You have graced one
and all & You are showering everyone with Your divine nectar. How has this
started happening.

Baba, whenever I see You then I always request You to make me Yours. And
when I say like this, then I see with my own eyes and I hear with my own
ears how You come close and shower me incessantly with Your infinite grace.

Baba, I am so meagre; You are so vast. I am bound up by my own
limitations. Even then You love me. Baba, by Your sweet touch all the
negativity and impurities get removed; and everything becomes pure. By Your
grace, the fragrant flowers blossom in each and every nook and corner of my
mind. Baba, people are telling that You are invisible and that You cannot be
seen; but by Your grace You have come to me. O’ my dearmost Baba, this is
all due to Your cosmic grace and infinite compassion…

== DEFINING GREATNESS IN HUMAN LIFE ==

Namaskar,
In each and every sphere of life Baba has set the gold-bar standard. In all
the realms He has beautifully defined what is the top-rung of achievement,
as well as how one gets there. Included in this is Baba’s special
explanation about greatness: What makes someone great.

No doubt in the mundane society– whether it be in the field of politics,
business, sports, or education etc– people have their own small-minded
views about who & what is great. But in Baba’s own revolutionary approach,
He has given His unique and dharmic teaching on greatness. And, needless to
say, His grand definition of ‘greatness’ stands on a plane all its own–
far, far above.

THE SUTRA & SPIRIT BEHIND IT ALL

Here following is Baba’s special guideline about vastness & greatness, the
link between the two, as well as what it means to be great.

Baba says, “This Supreme One is called brhat. The word brhat literally
means ‘One who is very vast, who is beyond the scope of all limitations,
who is immeasurable and unfathomable’…Brahma literally means the Entity
who is Himself very vast, and whose ideation makes others vast like Him.”

Brhattva’d Brahma Brm’hanatva’d Brahma

“Brm’hanatva’d means making others vast. He himself is very great, and
hence He is called Brahma; but this is not enough. Besides that He has the
capacity to make others equally great like Him.” (SS-11)

As Baba explains in His above teaching, one of the qualities of Parama
Purusa is that He Himself is vast (brhat). And not only that but He has the
capacity to make others vast. So, according to Baba’s revolutionary view,
being vast does not mean just being some big or large entity; in addition,
one must possess that special ability to make others equally vast. That is
the unique requisite which Baba outlines in the above shloka.

And– per Baba’s guideline– same is the case with greatness…

As He directs us, vastness or greatness does not come all by itself; nor
does it exist in a vacuum. To become ‘great’, one must have that special
talent of being able to make others great. This is the exceptional quality
of those who are really great. Thus only those who have this unique ability
to raise the standard of others to the level of greatness can truly be
called great. This is Baba’s teaching.

HUMANS CAN ALSO DO

So while Brahma is unquestionably the Greatest of the great, in their own
way humans can also achieve a certain level of greatness. Because those who
follow a God-centered philosophy are drenched in spiritual thought and
service-mindedness. And when others come in their contact then those common
people naturally feel inspired and get uplifted. Because by seeing the ways
and conduct of a true sadhaka, then others will also grow. And not only
that, those selfless sadhakas are ever-ready to help others advance. In
that way God-centered aspirants can bring lay people up to their high
level. And, according to Baba, those who do like this are indeed great.

NOT LIKE A BANYAN TREE

Thus becoming vast or great does not mean becoming big like one huge banyan
tree. Because although a banyan tree is enormous, it gets that way by
sucking up all the air, sunlight, water, and nutrients for itself. That
banyan tree does not allow even single a blade of grass to grow underneath
it. So this type of crude expression of bigness is not something
admirable– not something great.

HOW IT GOES IN THE GENERAL SOCIETY

Unfortunately in today’s materialistic society, there are so-called great
people all around. They are adorned on the cover of various magazines,
propped up on stages, applauded at sporting events, and praised by the size
of their wallet. Means in this present era there are so many who are called
as great– for one reason or another; yet none reach up to Baba’s standard
of the term, not even close.

As we see all around, whether in the field of business, entertainment, or
law etc, in cent-per-cent of the cases those materially-minded people only
become “great” by sucking the blood of others. Only by stepping on the
heads of others and by clawing and scratching for each and every inch did
they get “to the top”. And such ‘greats’ retain this regal status of theirs
by throwing dirt in the eyes of others. And they certainly do not help to
elevate the standard of others. Rather the opposite.

So these so-called greats in the crude society have nothing to do with
helping others to grow or expand. Rather they achieved their measly status
by hoarding money, grabbing a high post, & garnering a lot of prestige,
etc. So their greatness is only standing on fleeting worldly credentials.
And they enhance their “greatness” by attempting to collect more of those
worldly prizes than anyone else. So their approach is totally selfish–
where the key point is making oneself look better than others.

CONTRARY TO BABA’S DHARMIC DEFINITION

That is why what is usually called ‘great’ in this materialistic, vaeshyan
era is completely opposite to Baba’s spiritual, neo-humanistic approach. In
capitalism ‘greatness’ is achieved by pushing oneself above others, and in
our dharmic spiritual approach greatness means raising others up to a
standard of excellence.

Hence in the true sense, those selfish persons who pose as being “great”
are not really great– not at all. Because their ‘greatness’ comes from
sucking the blood of others. They are unable to make others great, just
they prop themselves up by stepping on the heads of others and reaping the
fruits of their existence. So simple and innocent citizens get exploited
and suppressed when they come in contact with such so-called great persons.
That is why we can never call any selfish, materialistic person as ‘great’.
Because they are unable to lift others up to a higher standard– rather
they push those people down into the depths of degradation.

SAME THING HAPPENING IN AMPS NOWADAYS

Unfortunately nowadays a similar trend exists in our AMPS. Because if we
look around then we can see that those so-called great Dadas suppress
lower-posted workers and / or margiis. Means top-dog Dadas reach the height
of their glory by pushing down on the shoulders of general members. They
force margiis to remain in a subservient position and do not allow margiis
to grow. This is evidenced by the curtailment and eradication of bhukti
pradhan rights, the strangulation of margii rights, the manipulation of the
ACB etc. In all spheres those great Dadas – no need to mention names –
just impose restrictions on the margiis to satisfy their
selfish greed for power and post. And within their own ranks they just
create ‘yes-men’ all around them. Any Dada with a brain got pushed aside
and anyone who they keep as their close must become a ‘yes-man’– a
no-brainer. This is the unfortunate formula these days.

So to attain their greatness, such top Dadas suck the blood of junior wts
and general margiis and exploit them up to the bone. That is the be-all and
end-all of their greatness. Meanwhile in this dark era, those who are
really great are temporarily hidden somewhere– remaining unknown.

So in the materialistic era of the general society and in this groupist era
in our AMPS, those who are deemed as “great” function in a way that is
totally opposite to Baba’s divine equation of greatness. Thus all around
so-called great people are nothing but exploiter-types, with not an ounce
of benevolent motive in their blood.

Whereas Baba’ divine recipe for greatness means working for the welfare of
others and making them great. That is how to see who is really great.

BABA’S BLESSING

By Baba’s divine grace, soon the humanity will be led by truly great
personalities. By Baba’s grace that day is fast approaching.

Baba says, “We are proceeding from darkness towards effulgence, from
imperfection along the golden steps to perfection. No obstacle on the way
will be able to stop our advancement. Pushing aside and smashing all
obstacles and impediments we will move along our destined path…The chant
of our forward movement will be our vocal expression, the very pulsation of
our life.” (A’nanda Va’nii, #72)

Namaskar,
Jagatmitra

Note 1: WHO IS CONTROLLING WHOM

Nowadays those with post are looked upon as great persons. Presidents and
Prime Ministers get huge respect and royal treatment wherever they go. Side
by side in this extreme vaeshyan era, those with any sense understand well
that from behind, these presidents are controlled by top-moneyed persons.

Some may think that Presidents are merely moderately influenced by those
corporation heads; but in reality those deep pocketed vaeshyas are
selecting and deciding who will be president. This is the well known fact
nowadays. But for the shudra-dominated public they are not aware about all
this so they just give full respect to the President and they think the
President is controlling everything. When the reality is that politics is
controlled by money. This is how the general society is moving.
But amongst the common people, post is everything and the capitalists
recognise this that is why they are purchasing & controlling those
postholders. If postholders were meaningless positions then those with
money would not bother about that.

In AMPS, post is given a similar amount of respect. So groupist Dadas work
behind the scenes and totally manipulate and control those sitting in the
chairs of the PP post and GS post. This is the on-going reality
since ’90.

Note 2: MORE ABOUT BABA’S TEACHING OF GREATNESS

Becoming vast or great is not measured by accumulating huge money or high
prestige or some other material thing etc, the vastness which Baba is
referring to in His famous shloka is about helping others to improve and
become great. And on that basis alone is what makes someone really great.

Note 3: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VAESHYAN ERA & GOD-CENTERED APPROACH

In crude vaeshyan era people think that those with money are great and in
other eras they have their own mundane parameters– such as physical might
or intellectual cunning etc. But in our God-centered approach the ones who
are great are those who make others great.

About the Wealthy

Baba says, “It must always be remembered that the value of money lies in
its proper use. If more money is accumulated than what is necessary, it
becomes valueless for want of use. To the extent that you keep idle and
valueless money with you, to that extent you become responsible for the
injustices done to the hungry and the naked. Your valueless hoard will have
to be made valuable by providing opportunities for use by others. Those who
do not know the right use of money on the basis of the exchange of mundane
resources are in fact the enemies of society.” (HS-1, p.41)

Subject: Everyone Must Be Aware…

Baba

PS Intro: This following song is about the establishment of a neohumanistic
society. It describes how sadvipra samaj gets formed and what it will look
like. Overall this song paints a picture of the upcoming dharma ra’j.

“Jay jay jay toma’ri huk jaya…” (P.S. 4764)

Purport:

O’ Divine Entity, O’ Cinmay, O’ Consciousness Personified who has graced
me by coming in this brilliant, golden, effulgent dawn: Victory, victory,
victory; victory unto You. Baba, You are everything.

On this earth, we all are witnessing the magic that has happened; by
Your divine grace our dream has come true today. Behold, this earth has
been filled with sweetness, charm, and beauty. By Your grace there is no
longer any dukha (sorrow) or santa’p (misery and suffering) anymore on this
earth. There is only the incessant flow of a’nanda (bliss); it is flowing
on and on continuously. Baba, by Your grace with the surge of devotion, the
new blood & vigour has awakened; the paranoia, threat, and terror of
exploitation is now completely gone. A new era of sentient peace has
ultimately arrived, by Your grace.

Baba, in the past by Your grace we planned that we will create a new
heaven. And now that day has come. So according to Your direction we will
go on doing Your work– all the while singing Your song to please You. Our
hands will do Your work and our heart will sing Your glory. In that way we
will move. Baba, by Your grace we will pour abundant love on each and every
unit being– on all our brothers and sisters, on all the flaura and fauna.
Baba, You have showered Your grace. That splendid day which we were
dreaming about has arrived; all the cimmerian darkness has been dispelled.
Now, by Your grace, the eastern horizon is filled with Your brilliant,
divine effulgence.

Baba, we will move on in the chorus of samgacchadhvam spirit– keeping
You in our heart and singing about Your glory…

EVERYONE MUST BE AWARE:

HOW GREEDY CAPITALISTS SET THEIR POISONOUS TRAP IN SOCIETY

Namaskar,
In the height of this vaeshyan era, we should all take proper care not to
be pulled into the pitfalls and degenerative ways of capitalistic life–
where those top capitalists try to pull all into their urn’a’ja’l (spider’s
web).

GREATNESS OF HUMAN LIFE

In His historic June 1990 discourse, Baba reveals how human life is highly
significant and that we should always engage in positive thinking. Indeed
Baba says, “The psychic potentialities of human beings are immense.” (YP,
’91, p.134)

But some negative forces in society, have their own way of dealing.

GRIP OF CAPITALISM

As we have all seen, capitalism extends its hands in various ways to grip
the whole society, especially the downtrodden communities and poor
countries. Capitalist leaders make them into satellite groups so that
capitalists can extract their vital resources.
How is this done?

In most of the cases we see that the imposition of sexually related things
like vulgar cinema and negative crude dance, dramas, literature etc plays a
huge role. All these things are slowly yet systematically getting more and
more imposed by capitalists. And capitalists’ only motive is to exploit and
use the common public, the affected mass of that area, as the suppliers of
raw materials.

Especially nowadays, with the help of the Internet, capitalists have spread
their negative message and tactics all around. It is saturating and
asserting itself in all societies and innocent people have gotten seriously
affected– especially youths.

TAKE THE CASE OF YOGA

In India thousands of years ago the science of yoga was started by great
rishis and yogis. But now if you go and see the “yoga” of European
countries you will be surprised. It took a completely different shape. In
the name of yoga all sorts of negative things are going on. Like the
domination of sex into yoga, and yoga has become the fashion where all the
prior standards of do’s and don’ts, and the discipline of yoga is lost
somewhere.

So this journey of yoga started in India and reached to European countries
and there it got metamorphosed. Means it got mixed with the color of
pseudo-culture and materialism. And now this yoga has returned back to
India in its new negative form; and now this new yoga is polluting Indian
soil. So you see, everything is getting affected with this pseudo-culture.
Indeed in the present day, the popularized yoga which is existing cannot be
compared with that yoga which was originally introduced by the great sages
and rishis. Rather it is far far degenerated from that and I feel it is a
shame to call it yoga.

And this imposition of culture is not only limited with yoga or dance.

MEDIA TOTALLY IN THE NOOSE OF CAPITALISM

Indeed all the media of entertainment has gotten completely polluted.
Radio, television, dance, drama, literature, books, magazines,
publications, all the sources of knowledge and entertainment have gotten a
serious blow from this capitalistic exploitation. And Baba has termed this
as pseudo-culture. In no uncertain terms, Baba warns us to be aware from
this capitalistic monster– pseudo-culture.

DEGENERATIVE TRICKS OF CAPITALISM

In Neo-humanism Baba teaches us how wealthy exploiters infuse
pseudo-culture through the media of vulgar cinemas, movies, television, and
internet programs etc to pollute the public mind, especially youths. When
the public becomes intoxicated capitalists create the circumstances and
take away all their resources. While the common public, indulging in
vulgar activities, remains oblivious about how they are getting exploited
by those capitalists.

So due to the capitalists, these days anywhere you look, things are painted
in the light of sex. If you go to purchase some products or anything, then
you will see something of sexual import. It is everywhere.

BABA EXPOSES THE VAST NET OF CAPITALIST EXPLOITATION

This widespread disease is disturbing all the arenas of life. This
following Baba’s teaching gives enough light, and for our collective
welfare we should understand this. Please think about this following Baba’s
quote where Baba explains how rich capitalists impose crude forms of
entertainment on those whom they want to control.

Baba says, “Suppose, a particular community has a high standard of arts
(theatre, cinema, etc.) but the number of rich people in that community is
comparatively few. On the other hand, the culture of another community is
very undeveloped, but there is a greater number of wealthy people among
them. Now, the latter [wealthy exploiter] group wants to maintain its
exploitation over that [simple public] group having a more developed
cultural heritage, and one of the ways to paralyze people in the
psycho-economic sphere is cultural exploitation–to impose vulgar cinemas
and dramas upon these good people.” [NH-LOI]

So in this above paragraph Baba is giving a clear picture how step by step
rich people spread their net to exploit the common public by indulging them
in degenerative entertainment, programs, movies etc.

The story does not end here Baba describes more about how the human mind
functions. And how the mind of the innocent common public gets easily
attracted towards negative and crude sensual pleasures and entertainment.
It is the common tendency that most of the people like to watch crude
negative movies and listen to negative songs. And in so doing the common
people get trapped in the net of capitalist exploiters. Please read below
for more clarity.

Baba says, “As you know, the mind has a natural tendency to degrade itself;
it flows more easily downwards than upwards. So if some people, by virtue
of their wealth, impose vulgar cinemas and dramas on others,…” [NH-LOI]

Baba further explains that with this influence of vulgar literature,
cinema, dance etc, the backbone of common pubic gets smashed. By this
breaking of their backbone they get paralysed. And they cannot stand erect.
The common public is bound in the spell of this sensual attraction & they
are even incapable to think about what is happening to them. How they are
getting exploited and what their living conditions are like.

Most of the time the common public is not even aware that they have been
trapped in the quagmire of pseudo-culture. Or that they are getting
exploited by wealthy people. For the common public, over the course of time
pseudo culture just became their way of life.

Does everyone remember those day in the recent past when people had some
time to think about social services and helping others. But now most of the
public when they have even just a little time they like to be glued to the
television. After all this is human weakness. In human beings the animal
propensities are more dominating than that divine propensity.

THE HORRIBLE EFFECTS OF PSEUDO-CULTURE

To understand more please read how the human mind works and how it is prone
to crude enjoyment. And ultimately the mind gets degenerated; and in the
final steps by this way capitalists exploits the common public. Step by
step this happens. Please read following Baba quote.

Baba says, “this [pseudo-culture] will break their backs and they will
become paralyzed. And these paralyzed, spineless people in future will
never be able to stand unitedly against cultural or any other kind of
exploitation. They can never do so because mentally they are completely
dead–their capacity to raise their heads in protest has been crushed
forever. How can they raise their heads again?” [NH-LOI]

Baba is furthermore explaining below that this pseudo-culture is very
detrimental & dangerous. So we have to recognise that the majority of
people are already trapped in pseudoculture. Without taking them out, there
is no way for their emancipation. So Baba is telling that the duty of good
people is to help others. To save others from pseudo-culture, i.e. their
attraction towards crude dance, negative movies, literature, and their
indulge in crude gossip using slang.

Baba says, “This exploitation in the cultural sphere is accomplished by the
propagation of pseudo-culture. Every honest, virtuous and rational person
must fight against this pseudo-culture, and inspire others also to do the
same.” [NH-LOI]

POINTING OUT THE PROBLEM AND GIVING THE SOLUTION

Excuse me the story does not end here. Baba is warning that it is the duty
of devotees, margiis, sadvipras to save the humanity. And if it is not done
then humanity will face its doom. So whatever we propagate in terms of
social service programs, superficial help, or any other type of
developmental project, that will not suffice. Because this sex instinct
which capitalists magnify can have a horribly dominating effect in the
life. If a perverted mentality is dominating in the mind then nothing
glorified can be achieved in the entire life. Whole life will be turned
into utter frustration in the end.

For clear understanding please read out this Baba’s quote.

Baba says, “If this is not done, the future of humanity will be sealed. It
is proper for human beings to struggle for political freedom, for social
emancipation; but if their cultural backbone is broken, then all their
struggles will end in nothing–like offering clarified butter to a
sacrificial fire which has been reduced to ashes. If one’s spine is
shattered, it is impossible to hold one’s head erect. Can those whose necks
and backs are crushed under the weight of pseudoculture, be expected to
hold their heads high in any sphere of life?” [NH-LOI]

In this following message Baba is giving us explicit direction:

Baba says, “Hence it is the bounden duty of every rational person to save
innocent people from pseudo-culture.” [NH-LOI, p.54-55]
The whole idea is that this pseudo-culture is not something that is
remaining or living on the moon, stars, or planet mars only. Rather this
pseudo-culture is surrounding and permeating around our very existence.

So this pseudo-culture is not limited to 1 or 2 persons. Rather this
pseudo-culture is an on-going, pervasive problem that in one or another way
we all are facing in our day to day life. Our own personal lives are
affected & our kids like to see such negative films more than they like to
work on their course of study or textbook.

BABA’S BLESSING

By the grace of Baba, we Ananda Margiis will remain free from pseudoculture.
But not only that, the time is not far when our Marga will be leading the
way and giving light to the entire human society for their all around
salvation.

Baba says, “…You are the spiritual soldiers, you are the worshippers of
Life Divine, hence I call you to adorn this crimson dawn deluged with
glorious light. Victory is surely yours.” (from AV #26)

Namaskar
Amriteshwar

Note: In this x-tra busy, modern world we must always be careful not to get
caught up in the temporary, degenerative allurements of pseudo-culture.
Otherwise it has a disastrous effect. Means in and around this is the
common problem and sometimes a few margiis or Dadas may go and see– but
never it yields any beneficial outcome. Rather it worsens. So this is just
reminder to one and all and especially to our children and adolescent youth
that we should properly guide them away from the terrible ways of
pseudo-culture, and onto the path of light.

Makes happy people unhappy, and unhappy people happy

Baba says, “Once King Akbar said, ‘Birbal, can you please tell me something
which will make a happy man unhappy and an unhappy man happy?’ Birbal replied,
‘Aesa’ din nahi rahega’– This day will not last forever’.” (AV-4, p. 80)
